Perennial. Flowering stems 50-70 cm, stout or occasionally slender, ascending to ± erect, leafy in lower 3/5-4/5 or rarely up to inflorescence. Leaf margins scabrid. Inflorescence with 3-6 long branches, laxly flowered. Bracts 5-10 mm, shortly deltoid to narrowly lanceolate,long-cuspidate. Fruiting pedicels 9-12 mm, ± erect to spreading, jointed ±below the middle. Perianth segments yellow, 20-22 mm, outside of outer segments orange. Capsule ± oblong, 13-16 mm, smooth. 2n = 28. Fl. 5-6. Scrub, stony or rocky places, 650-1400 m.
