Perennial, 60-80 cm, densely adpressed white-tomentose, often glabrescent, eglandular. Stem slender, terete, simple. Basal leaves broadly obovate to elliptic, 10-20 x 5-14 cm, obtusely crenulate, petiole 4-5 cm; upper cauline cordate-ovate, often auriculate at base, acuminate, finely crenulate to entire. Inflorescence lax, simple, with clusters of 2-5 flowers. Bracts ovate-triangular, mucronate or acuminate. Pedicels indistinct, to 5 mm; bracteoles lanceolate. Calyx 7-9 mm, cleft to 2/3 or ¾ into ovate-lanceolate, acute lobes. Corolla yellow, 30-40 mm diam., with pellucid glands, tomentose outside. Stamens 5, anthers reniform, filaments broadened at base, with whitish-yellow wool up to anthers. Capsule unknown; ovary ovate, densely tomentose. Fl. 5. Steppe, 380 m.
