Biennial, 30-100 cm, white-tomentose with branched, somewhat spreading hairs below, with adpressed stellate hairs, later glabrescent above. Stem slender, terete or striate and subangular, branched. Basal leaves lyrate-pinnatisect, terminal segment oblong to obovate, obtuse, entire or shallowly lobed, 2-14 x 1.5-7 cm, lateral segments 1-4-paired, entire or crenulate, 1-2 x 0.5-1 cm, petiole 1-9 cm; cauline oblong, ± entire, shortly petiolate or sessile, acutish or acute. Inflorescence loose, branched, forming narrow or ovate panicle, with clusters of 1-3 flowers. Bracts small, ovate-orbicular, obtuse or mucronate. Pedicels to 6 mm. Calyx 2-3 mm, with eglandular hairs, lobes broadly spathulate, obtuse. Corolla yellow, 10-15 mm diam., with numerous pellucid glands, glabrous outside. Stamens 5,anthers reniform, filaments with whitish-yellow wool, 2 anterior glabrous above. Capsule broadly ovate, 4-5 x 3-4 mm, tomentose, soon glabrescent. Fl. 5-6. Quercus scrub, dry slopes, 400-1030 m.
