Glabrous perennial, 45-140 cm, stems narrowly to broadly winged, especially below leaf bases. Leaves with 3,5-11 cm petiole; lamina 3,7-14 x 2,8 cm, ovate to elliptic, base obtuse to cordate, margin dentate to serrulate, crenate to crenulate, rarely bicrenate. Bracts with base rounded to cuneate, margin dentate to serrulate, uppermost becoming linear and entire. Cymes 3-25-flowered; peduncle 0,3-3,5 mm, ± sparingly glandular; alar pedicels 4-25 mm, sparingly glandular , usually much exceeding glabrous, 3-8 mm bracteoles. Calyx lobes glabrous, ovate to broadly ovate, 2,5-3 x 1,8-2,5 mm; scarious margin broad, white to brown. Corolla pale greenish-brown or -purple, 3-7 mm; s·tamens included or subexserted; staminode transversely oblong or reniform , entire to bilobed. Capsule broadly ovoid to globular, 3-6 x 3 mm. Fl. 4-7. Wet granite slopes and stream banks in forests, 30-1950 m.
