Erect perennial with short rhizomatous stems bearing rosettes of leaves. Leaves reniform, crenate or serrate,hairy to almost glabrous, with a very narrow cartilaginous border. Cauline leaves few, usually dentate. Flowering stems 15-45 cm, glandular-hairy especially towards the top. Flowers borne in a panicle. Petals 6-11 mm, narrowly oblong, white, usually with yellow spots near the base and reddish spots above. Ovary superior. Fl. 4-9. Woods, damp shady cliffs and rocks, 60-2400 m.
