Glaucous or greyish green, ± pruinose perennial to semi-shrub, 10-50 cm. Stems numerous, ascending to flexuous, quadrangular, somewhat scabrid to hispidulous or glabrous. Vegetative shoots ± few. Basal leaves ± imbricate, 3-6 x 0.5-0.8 mm, mainly oblong, obtuse to shortly acuminate; upper 5-15 x 0.3-0.5 mm, filiform, mucronate, with hyaline apex to 0.3 mm and strongly revolute margins. Inflorescence composed of several ± few-flowered spiciform, often strongly reduced, partial inflorescences. Bracts 2.5-3 x 0.8-1.5 mm, lanceolate-ovate to broadly ovate and irregularly denticulate, acuminate, with ± broad hyaline margins, often ciliate, distinctly connate at base. Corolla pink, 3-7 mm, ± hypocrateriform, with 1.5-2.25 mm, oblong, mucronate lobes, scabrid to glabrous outside. Ovary smooth, glabrous, sometimes slightly papillose. Fl. 6-8. Dry rock ledges on limestone or serpentine, 700-2200 m.
