Mound-forming shrub up to 75 cm or more. Outer bark silvery, puberulous, deciduous in longitudinal strips, exposing the brown under bark. Leaves oblong with 11-25 oblong to ovate, entire to 3-5-toothed revolute leaflets, puberulous above, whitish-pilose beneath and on the rachis. Sepals green, often white-margined, ovate-oblong, c. 2 mm. Stigmas penicillate, reddish. Fruit ± spherical, yellowish brown, 3-5 mm diam. Fl. 3. Rocky slopes, phrygana, s.l.-1000 m.
