Spinescent tree or large shrub up to 5 m; twigs glabrous. Leaves ovate to ovate-orbicular, 2-4 cm diam., crenulate, glabrous, green, base subcordate; petioles usually longer than blade. Flowers unknown. Fruit ± globose, c. 1 cm diam., glabrous; sepals deciduous after flowering, leaving only a scar ring; pedicels c. 4 cm. Quercus-Pistacia woodland.
