Much-branched, unarmed shrub to 2,5 m; young shoots glabrous, angular, by summer often leafless. Leaves linear-lanceolate to linear-spathulate 2-4 x 0,3-0,5 cm, obscurely crenate to crenate-serrate, glabrous, usually glandular; petioles c. 7 mm. Flowers whitish-pink, 15-17 mm diam., sessile or subsessile; hypanthium hemispherical to broadly campanulate. Drupe globose to ovate, slightly compressed, 14-20 x 8-12 mm, puberulent at first, becoming ± glabrous; stone with indistinct grooves only near the base, keel hardly developed. Fl. 3-4. Dry stony slopes in steppe or open Quercus forest, 600-1200 m.
