Shrub up to 2 m. Young twigs puberulent, bud scales glabrous. Leaves large, broadly elliptic-oblong, 8-15 x 4-6 cm, crenate-serrulate, pubescent on both surfaces, rounded at base, with 15-25 veins on each side. Petiole 1,5-2 cm, pubescent. Fruit 4-5 mm diam., black when ripe. Fl. spring. Edge of mixed forest, 1300-1700 m.
