Diffuse, densely pilose annual. Stems branched, leafy, 5-30 cm. Lower leaves shortly trilobed, crenate-lobulate; upper stem leaves tripartite or elliptical. Peduncles short, swollen in fruit and recurved, 1-2 cm, small-flowered, the lower shorter than the subtending leaves. Sepals reflexed. Petals 3-4 mm. Achene suborbicular, compressed, disc densely tuberculate or rarely smooth , 2,5-3,0 mm, surrounded by a narrow marginal wing confluent with the triangular-recurved, uncinate, 1-1,5 mm beak. Fl. 3-5. Moist fallow fields, grassy slopes, woodland and scrub, s.l.-900 m.
S. Europe, Crimea, S.W. Asia. Mainly a plant of the E. Medit. region.
