Glaucous, virgate, rigid annual, 25-60 cm, glabrous or with at least the pedicels crisped-pubescent. Median cauline leaves -usually withered at anthesis- thick and prominently nerved, tripartite into cuneate, 3-5-lobed segments; upper leaves linear-lanceolate. Racemes lax, linear. Bracts shorter than the pedicels. Flowers bright violet-blue, crisply pubescent outside; lower petals exserted, blade quadrate or ovate-orbicular, cordate at base, abruptly contracted into a claw up to 1,5 x limb; spur c. 2 x sepals, nearly straight. Follicles broadly oblong, 5-6 mm. Fl. 7-8. Steppe, fallow fields and vineyards, 200-1200 m.
Endemic; allied to D. bithynicum. Ir.-Tur. element.
