Perennial, 50-70 cm, roots tuberous. Stem flexuosus, puberulent below, glandular pubescent above. Leaves petiolate, palmatisect, segments linear-lanceolate, puberulent; median segments 6 mm long, and expanded base 3-4 mm. Petioles slender, c. 5 cm, with a sheathing expanded base. Raceme simple and dense, 7-11 x 3-3,5 cm, oblong, cylindrical; peduncles glabrous. Bracts ovate-lanceolate, 6-8 x 2-4 mm, glabrous, margins membranous. Bracteoles attached to base of pedicels, linear-lanceolate, Pedicels 4-6 mm, glabrous. Flowers 17-22 mm, purplish-red; spur horizontal, glabrous, 10-12 mm, cylindrical, obtuse; upper petals glabrous, lower petals bifid, bearded. Folicles 3, glabrous. Fl. 6-7. Rocky slopes, l500-1700 m.
