Rather densely pulvinate, usually calcareous-punctate shrublet. Leaves linear-triquetrous, sometimes plano-triquetrous, 5-20 mm, glabrous or infrequently pubescent. Scapes very short, sometimes ± absent, 1-2-spiked; spikes imbricate or densely distichous. Spikelets 3-7. Outer bract glabrous or pubescent; inner bracts oblong-lanceolate, obtuse to acuminate, cuspidate, green or purplish, with broad hyaline margins or hyaline except for vein. Calyx tube pilose, limb 5- or 10-lobed, white or purple; veins sometimes expanded towards margin, usually excurrent. Petals bright pink. Fl. 6-8. Stony slopes, on limestone and serpentine, exposed mountain tops, screes, 1200-3000 m.
