Decumbent to ascending annual, usually strongly branched, shoots 10-30 cm; stems ± sparsely subvillous to subglabrous. Lower leaves and bracts long-petiolate , sometimes purple below, eglandular-pubescent on both surfaces, rarely glandular or subglabrous, hairs 0,5-1,1 mm . Lamina of bracts suborbicular, 6-20 x 9-20 mm, ± deeply 5-9-lobed, lateral lobes slightly narrower, base subcordate, truncate or cuneate. Pedicels 15-30 mm in fruit , patent or recurved, pilose with scattered eglandular or glandular 0,6-1,3 mm hairs or glabrous. Flowers nodding. Calyx 4-5 mm, lobes ovate to suborbicular, erecto-patent, apex obtuse, eglandular or glandular-pubescent with 0,8-1,1 mm coarse patent hairs. Corolla white, 6-12 mm diam. Style 1-2 mm. Capsule transversely subellipsoid , 2,5-3,5 x 3,5-4,5 mm, base truncate-subcordate, apex slightly rounded-emarginate; pilose with coarse eglandular or glandular 1,5-2,3 mm patent hairs. Seeds c. 4, subglobose, 2,5-3 x 2-2,5 mm, deeply cup-shaped , orange-brownish, rugulose. 2n= 36, 54. Fl. 1-5. Macchie, open Pinus forests, rocky slopes, banks, dunes, walls, ruins, waste places, roadsides, s.I.-1200 m.
