Erect perennial, 25-50 cm. Rhizome short, little branched; stems unbranched, erect, 25-69 cm, villous. Leaves sessile, broadly ovate, 17-35 x 10-25 mm, pubescent with thin patent hairs above, greyish beneath with denser, crisp hairs; base truncate or cordate, apex obtuse, rounded, margin deeply crenate. Racemes 2-4, opposite, densely 30-60-flowered, peduncle 3-6 cm. Pedicels 3-5 mm, 0,7-1,5 x bracts, pubescent with thin curved eglandular hairs. Bracts linear, glabrous or ciliate. Calyx 2,5-4 mm, lobes 5, narrowly linear-lanceolate, acute, glabrous or sparsely ciliate. Corolla blue or violet-blue, 10-14 mm diam., lobes acute. Style 4-6 mm. Capsule broadly elliptic, c. 5 x 4 mm, glabrous, ba-se rounded, distinctly emarginate, lobes slightly pointed at apex. Seeds unknown. Fl. 5-7. Open forests, pastures, at low altitudes.
