Suffruticose perennial. Stems many, virgate, glabrous, 60-90 cm. Basal leaves obovate-oblanceolate, attenuate-petiolate, often glandular-pubescent and few-toothed distally. Cauline leaves alternate, dense, sessile , linear-oblanceolate, 1-3 cm, acute, entire or trisect, glabrous. Racemes 15-40 cm. Bracts linear, lower longer than flowers. Pedicels 0·5-2 mm. Corolla c. 4 mm. Capsule ovoid, 2·5-3 mm, emarginate, hard. Seeds 1 mm. Fl. 5-7. Rocky slopes and sleppe, 150-2100 m.
