Unbranched, rarely branched, 15-40 cm. Spike dense, usually ± equalling stem. Calyx teeth narrowly lanceolate with a subulate tip, 2 x as long as calyx tube, usually recurved. Corolla violet-blue, inclined, 18-26 mm, lobes of lower lip acute or rounded. Anthers glabrous or woolly. Fl. 6-8. Alt. 500-2000 m.
N. Africa , S.W. & C. Asia eastwards to Sinkiang.
