Green annual, 8-25 cm, heterostylic. Stems ± villosulous. Lower stem leaves oblong-spathulate, evanescent; median leaves oblong, subacute, 12-23 x 2-5 mm, 3-5-nerved. Bracts often glandular-margined. Cymes divaricate, lax, few-many-flowered. Sepals subequal, linear with an ovate-rhomboid base, 9-12 x 1-2 mm, bearing long hairs and shortly glandular-ciliate. Petal pink with a bluish base to the limb, 18-27 mm. Capsule 4-5 mm. Fl. 4-5. Hillsides and fallow fields, s.l.-l200 m.

Ssp anisocalyx
Differing from L. pubescens mainly in its strongly dimorphic sepals; the outer pair elliptical-lanceolate and eglandular, hiding the inner 3 sepals that are only 6-8 mm, rhomboid-lanceolate and glandular-margined. The habit appears to be more slender and the cyme more laxly flowered. Fl. 5-6. Foothills, Pinus brutiaforest, nr. s.l.-500 m.
