Tunics densely lined with matted woolly hairs. Leaves 3-5, glaucous, ± erect, undulate, ciliate or not, lanceolate, 15-25 x 2.5-4 cm. Flowers scarlet, light red to yellowish outside, blotch black bordered with yellow, narrow, 1/3-1/2 length of perianth segment. Outer perianth segments 42-85 x 20-28 mm, ovate-elliptic to elliptic, acute to acuminate; inner 37-58 x 15-22 mm, narrowly obovate to obovate-oblong, rounded to acute. Filaments 8-12 mm, black to blue-black; anthers 8-17 mm. Ovary often glaucous, distinctly narrowed below stigma. Fl. 4. Weed of cultivation, 550-1000 m.
