Annual. Stems 8.5-65 cm, glabrous, or puberulent to pilose. Leaves with 8-75 mm petioles; lamina broadly ovate, cordate-ovate or suborbicular, median 12-50 x 10-35 mm, obtuse, cordate to truncate, crenate to doubly crenate 7-9 per side), pubescent to pilose . Bracts ovate-triangular to broadly ovate, without or usually with a white or pink blotch. Verticillasters 1-4, 4-8-flowered. Bracteoles 2.5-4.5 mm. Calyx 8-14 mm; teeth 5-8 mm, ciliate, glandular. Corolla white, usually with red-purple spots on lower lip and tube, 12-23 mm;tube 6-11 mm, curved, with annulus; upper lip 5-10 mm; lower lip 6-8 mm, lateral lobes conspicuous, triangular. Nutlets 2.3-3 x 1.4-2 mm, shortly obovoid to shield-shaped, olive brown.
