Perennial with woody stock; stems numerous, slender, 15-30 em, sparsely and shortly spreading-pubescent. Leaves broadly ovate, only 5-10 x 3-6 mm, flat, thin, ± velutinous, obtuse to subacute, often subapiculate; petiole 1-2 mm. Inflorescence 7-15 x 1-2 cm, thyrsoid, Verticillasters distant, 6-10-flowered; cymules lax, peduncle and pedicels longer than the 0.5-1 mm linear-lanceolate bracteoles. Floral leaves ovate-elliptic, subpetiolate, much shorter than cymules. Calyx tubular-obconical, 2.5-3 mm, actinomorphic, veins sparsely pubescent, throat glabrous; teeth equal, c. 0.5 mm, 1/4-1/5 as long as calyx, triangular, shortly acuminate. Corolla mauve, 5-7 mm. Anthers scarcely exserted from tube. Nutlets ovate, 1 x 0.5 mm, subapiculate. Fl. .7. Limestone rocks in Pinus nigra forest, 1500-1800 m.
Endemic. E. Medit. element. Closely allied to M. taygetea P.H. Davis from S. Greece.
