Plant 6-15 cm. Rhizome slender, with long stolons. Leaves 4-5, falcate, 0.3-0.5 cm broad. Bract and bracteole 3.5-8 cm. Perianth tube 1-1.5 cm. Falls oblanceolate, acute, 5.5-6 x 2-2.5 cm, heavily veined reddish-brown or purplish-brown on a white ground with a regular median dark purple blotch, bearded in lower half with a sparse narrow band of yellow or cream coloured hairs; standards elliptic-oblanceolate, acute, 5.7-5.8 x 2.3-2.7 cm, crenate, prominently veined purplish-brown on a white ground and speckled along mid-vein; style branches 2.5-3.5 x 1 cm, yellowish with brown spots, with short reflexed lobes c. 0.5 x 0.4 cm. Capsule ellipsoid, c. 3 x1.5 cm. Fl. 4-5. Rocky steppe and unstable pumice slopes, 1000-1980 m.
