Like I. germanica but plant 30-60 cm; leaves markedly incurved at tips, strongly glaucous; stem usually simple with 2 terminal flowers, but if branched then lateral flowers sessile or nearly so; flowers normally white with a yellow beard on falls, rarely mid-blue. Fl. 2-5 ; in or near cultivated areas, cemeteries, c. 30-70 m.
Arabia, Yemen. Frequently planted in many parts of the Mediterranean area and sometimes naturalised.
