Stems 10-130 cm, erect, rooting, 4-lined or narrowly 4-winged. Leaves 10-35 mm, ovate or oblong to elliptic or orbicular, sessile or amplexicaul, plane or rarely undulate, with numerous small pellucid dots. Sepals lanceolate or narrowly oblong, acute or acuminate, entire, with or without 1-2 superficial black dots and rarely an apical dot. Petals 5-7 mm, with or without 1-4 intramarginal black dots. Capsule 4-6 mm, ovoid, with longitudinal vittae. Fl. 6-9. Marshes and streamsides, s.l-900 m.
