Annual or biennial; stem 5-30 cm, simple or only slightly branched above, with or without a basal leaf rosette. Leaves elliptic-oblong. Inflorescence with few branches. Flowers 20-25 mm, pedicellate. Calyx ¾ x to nearly equalling corolla tube. Corolla yellow. Fl. 4-6. Sunny, rocky slopes; scrub, s.l.-800m.
