Deciduous tree up to 25 m. Leaflets 25-45 x 12-25 mm, elliptical, subglabrous 3-10-paired. Racemes many-flowered, pendulous. Corolla 15-20 mm, white, the base of the standard yellow. Legume 5-10 x 1 cm, glabrous. Fl. 4-6. Naturalised in woodland etc., especially along the Black Sea coast. Planted as a street tree.
Native in N. America. The commonest naturalised tree in Turkey.
