Trees up to 10 m. Spines usually present, 5-10 cm. Leaves pinnate, leaflets 20-35 x 7-12 mm, or bipinnate then leaflets 8-20 x 3-8 mm, oblong, remotely dentate. Flowers c. 2 mm, greenish-white, sessile in many-flowered racemes c. 8 cm. Fruit 17-45 x 2-3 cm, oblong, sometimes falcate, light brown, 10-seeded. Fl. 5. Planted or ornament.
Native in N. America.
