Sturdy, erect or ascending, branched perennial, 20-40 cm. Leaves mostly ending in a tendril; leaflets 4-8-paired, subcoriaceous, cuneate-obovate, 7-18 x 4-13 mm, incised-serrate in the upper two thirds, pilose with numerous glandular and few eglandular hairs. Stipules incised. Peduncle 1-2-flowered, bearing a 3-14 mm subulate awn. Bracts shortly subdentate or entire, c. 1 mm. Flowers c. 20 mm, lilac. Calyx strongly gibbous, 12-15 mm. Legume 20-25 mm, oblong-ellipsoid, glandular-villous. Seeds 2-3, rugulose and papillose. Fl. 5-8. Pinus nigra forest, scrub, rocky slopes and screes, 1200-3300 m.
