Scapose perennial with a woody base. Leaves 8-20-cm; leaflets 8-14 mm, ovate to broadly elliptic, bifurcate-sericeous, 6-12-paired; stipules c. 10 mm, lanceolate-acuminate. Peduncles 12-20 cm. Inflorescence a lax, cylindrical, 20-50-flowered spike. Bracts c. 3 mm, triangular-lanceolate. Calyx 7-10 mm, tubular, adpressed bifurcate, purely white to predominantly black-hairy; teeth 3-5 mm, narrowly triangular. Corolla pale yellow, or brownish-red to purple or violet; standard 16-22 mm, attenuate above. Legume 14-20 x 3 mm, shortly cylindrical, curved or straight, adpressed bifurcate black- or white-hairy, pendulous; beak c. 3 mm, straight. Fl. 5-6.
