Procumbent or ascending, caulescent perennial, woody at the base; stems up to 15 cm. Leaves 1-6 cm; leaflets 3-10 mm, narrowly elliptic, subadpressed to adpressed bifurcate-hairy, 4-11-paired; stipules 5-7 mm, ovate-triangular. Peduncles 1-5 x as long as the subtending leaf. Inflorescence a dense, globose raceme of 7-15 shortly pedicellate flowers, elongating in fruit. Bracts 2-5 mm, lanceolate to ovate. Calyx 7-10 mm, tubular, subadpressed to spreading, black and white bifurcate-hairy; teeth 2-4 mm, linear. Corolla violet or lavender; standard 15-20 mm, hairy on dorsal surface. Legume 5-9 x 2-3 mm, ovoid, compressed, spreading white bifurcate-pilose; beak 2-5 mm. Fl. 5-7. Woods, meadows, steppe, 950-1560 m.
