Plant up to 80 cm. Frond lanceolate, petiole 2-15 cm, main rachis densely clothed with brown lanceolate scales, lamina lanceolate, 2-pinnate, pinnules up to 40 on each side, rather rectangular, softly hairy above; sessile to subsessile, margin serrate.
N. Temperate regions but everywhere local.
