Woody-based perennial, with prostrate, 25-70 cm stems densely tomentose. Leaves oblanceolate to broadly ovate, obtuse to subacute, rounded or cordate at base, all veins markedly raised on lower surface. Flowers axillary, in 2-4-flowered short-peduncled compact cymes, which may be ± scorpioid. Outer sepals ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, c. 6-10 mm. Corolla white, 14-16 mm. Ovary glabrous. Fl. 6-7. Steppe, fallow fields, banks, 'desert', 250-1200 m.
