Annual. Stems branched, rather weak, striate, glabrous or papillose-pubescent. Leaves large, reticulately nerved, lanceolate, papillose. Bracts similar to the leaves but becoming smaller upwards. Pedicels c. 2 x longer than the calyx at anthesis, densely papillose. Sepals 4-5 mm. Petals white, about as long as the sepals, entire to retuse. Capsule ± globose, included in the persistent calyx. Fl. 6-8. Hedges, fields, 100-2000 m.
