Height c. 10 cm. Leaves ± entire, 22-35 x 6-7 mm. Inflorescence very lax, the branches angularly held, straight and stiff, inflating somewhat in ripe fruit. Bracts ± linear, free and herbaceous below, becoming obsolete above. Flowers lavender. Fruit 6 mm overall, covered with warts or tubercles, the calyx with 6-12 lobes spreading to 5 mm, the ovary 1,3 mm wide. Fl. 6-7. Steppe, cultivated ground.
