Height 4-18 cm. Leaves mostly entire, 17-34 x 1-6 mm. Inflorescence at first dense, later lax, obconic, the branches and bracts stiff, persistent, resembling basketry. Bracts 2,5-3 x 0,5-0,8 mm below, ± free and herbaceous, smaller and webbed above. Flowers pale lilac. Fl. 5-6. Rocky slopes, steppe,fallow fields, 1200-1850 m.
