Erect annual with pilose stems up to 40 cm. Lowerleaves oblong to oblanceolate, entire, dentat~-crenate or lyrate, sericeous. Upper leaves lanceolate, often pinnatisect with linear segments. Involucral bracts 12-16 mm, elliptic-lanceolate, sericeous. Capitula 1-2 cm diam., radiant; flowers mauve or violet. Involucel 4-6 mm, pubescent, with 8 pits in the upper part, 8-ribbed for the whole length; corona 1-2 mm. Calyx long-stipitate, 7-12 mm, with 10 teeth. FI. 4-6. s.I.-600 m.
