Plant 15-30 cm tall, stems simple or branched from base, usually hispid, rarely glabrous. Flowers solitary or in panicles. Calyx lobes 10-16 mm, mostly ¼ - ½  x ovary at flowering time. Corolla broadly campanulate, 15-20 mm, white at base, blue in middle, apex violet. Filaments with broad ciliate base. Ovary over 15 mm, much elongated after flowering. Capsule 20-30 mm, cylindrical, not constricted at apex. Seeds orbicular, 0,9-1 mm. Fl. 4-6. Dry open places, fields, s.l.-2000 m.
