Annual herb, hispid throughout especially on leaves and bracts. Stem 8-22 cm, erect. Basal leaves to 30 x 3 mm, narrowly oblong-spathulate, shortly petiolate, obtuse; cauline to 18 x 2·5 mm, linear to linear-spathulate, sessile, subacute. Calyx C. 2·5 mm in flower, accrescent to 4 mm in fruit, lobes connivent. Corolla yellow, tube 5-6 mm, ± equalling bracts, throat with 5 hairy patches or a villous band. Anthers included, filaments very short. Style included, stigma bilobed. Nutlets 1.5-1.6 mm, dorsally convex, with a narrow ventral ridged keel and acute beak. Fl. 4-5. Cliffs, fields, Pinus brutia forest, meadows, nr. s.l.-1100 m.
