Densely softly-pubescent annual, to 40 cm, sparsely branched. Lower leaves long-petiolate, lamina elliptic to oblong, 8-10 x 2·5-3 cm, apex obtuse; cauline sessile, base broadly cordate, apex acute. Cymes ebracteate, becoming lax in fruit. Fruiting pedicels ± equalling calyx. Calyx lobes oblong-elliptic, c. 4 mm in flower, 5-6 mm in fruit, softly tomentose. Corolla dusky red, 5-6 mm, tube short, included in calyx, limb broad, infundibular. Style ½  x calyx. Nutlets orbicular, 7-8 mm, marginate, ventral and lateral surfaces densely glochidiate, disc shortly glochidiate in centre. Fl. 4. Rocky limestone slopes nr coast, d.-50 m.
