Annual, 4-35 cm. Stems numerous, rarely solitary from rhizome, unbranched above. Leaves shortly 1-2-pinnatisect; laciniae filiform or lanceolate-subulate. Capitula solitary, terminal, 0,4-1,2 cm broad , radiate, borne on naked, pubescent ± thin peduncles. Phyllaries glabrescent, oblong-obtuse, margins membranous, reddish-brown or white. Receptacle conical or elongate-conical. Ligules 2,5-8 mm; corolla lobes of disc flowers eglandular at tips. Achenes shortly oblong, ± incurved, 1-1.5 x 0.3-0.8 mm, black or dark brown at maturity, copiously mucilaginous, anteriorly 2-ribbed, posteriorly 3-ribbed, ribs thickened, fissures deep; corona lobate, funnel-like, white, 1/3-1/2  as long as achene. Fl. 3-6. Rocky places, fields, orchards, saline soil, etc., 30-1180 m. Iran, Syria, Transcaspia, Turkestan, Caucasia, S. & C. Russia.
