Erect perennial with sparsely floccose stems 40-70 cm. Leaves ± glabrous to sparsely floccose; basal elliptic to narrowly ovate, sinuate-dentate to entire, petiolate; cauline becoming narrower towards top of stem, denticulate to entire, semi-amplexicaul. Capitula radiate, 4-9 in an usually lax corymb, 2-4 cm broad. Phyllaries 8-10 mm, lanceolate, densely floccose. Calycular bracts 4-8 mm, linear. Ligules 12-18 mm, yellow. Disc flowers 5-lobed. Achenes 2-4 mm, sparsely hairy especially near top. Pappus 7-10 mm, white. Fl. 6-7. Steppe, rocky slopes, scrub, 1450-2500 m.
