Glandular-hairy perennial, stems 15-35 cm. Basal and lower cauline leaves petiolate, lyrate-pinnatisect with 1-3 pairs of lateral lobes and large ovate, often cordate terminal lobe, margins dentate; middle and upper cauline sessile, auriculate, oblong, pinnatifid or toothed. Capitula in a lax 3-5-capitulate corymb; radiate capitula 2.5-3·5 cm broad, discoid capitula 1.5-2 cm broad. Phyllaries 8-10 mm, lanceolate, densely glandular-hairy. Calycular bracts few, linear, 5-7 mm. Ligules 10-12 mm, deep yellow or orange. Disc flowers 4-5-lobed. Achenes 6-7 mm, ribbed, glabrous. Pappus c. 6 mm, pale brown. Fl. 7-9. Rocky slopes, screes, 2700-3660 m.
