Decumbent or erect annual, ±sparsely adpressed-pubescent. Stems branched from base, up to 40 cm. Leaves 2-pinnatisect, 1.5-3 cm, oblong or oblanceolate in outline, segments linear-oblanceolate, c. 0.5 mm broad, acute. Capitula radiate, peduncles becoming slightly thickened. Involucre 0.75-1 cm broad; inner phyllaries oblong-spathulate, broadly scarious at apex. Receptacle becoming conical; paleae elliptic-lanceolate, ± stiffly acuminate. Ray flowers 12-15, sterile?; ligules 0.75-1 cm. Disc corollas c. 2.5 mm, becoming slightly inflated at base. Achenes squarish in section, c. 2 mm, ribbed, ribs thickening above to form a warted margin at rim of achene. Pappus absent. Fl. 5-7. Roadsides and cultivated ground.
Almost throughout Europe up to 60oN; Caucasus, Iran. Adventive in N. & S. America, Australia and New Zealand. Euro-Sib. element.
