Height 40-100 cm. Stems robust, terete, longitudinally striped, pubescent. Leaves pubescent and ± glandular-dotted, median cauline oblong to broadly ovate, 8-13 x 4-6·5 cm, deeply pinnatifid to pinnatisect, with 4-6 pairs of cuneate-lanceolate lobed or dentate segments up to 5 x 2 cm. Capitula 80-200 and more, corymbs 6-11 cm broad, peduncles 2-6.mm. Involucre oblong to broadly obovoid, 3,5-4 x 2,5-3 mm. Phyllaries linear to lanceolate and oblong, acute to obtuse, pale, pubescent. Ligules 4-5, white, 1·5-2·5 mm, disc flowers 10-20. Fl. 5-7. Woodlands, 200-1800 m.
