Bulb ovoid, tunics dark brown outside, violet-purple within. Leaves 2-4, broadly linear, synanthous, 3-10 cm x 4-8 mm. Scapes 1-4,slender. Raceme lax, 1-flowered; pedicels curved, 2-10 mm, shorter than perianth segments. Bracts bifid, 1-2.5 mm. Perianth segments lilac-blue, with dark midrib, 9-18 x 2-5 mm, spreading. Filaments 6-7 mm, dilated at base. Ovary subglobose. Style 6-8.5 mm. Seeds subglobose, c. 2 mm diam., pale brown with white caruncle. 2n = 12. Fl. 3-4. Rocky steppe, c. 1000 m.
Endemic. lr.-Tur. element. Morphologically close to S. siberica subsp. armena.
