Stems numerous, to 1-8 m, green and white puberulent when young, later glabrescent, grey-brown or grey. Leaves to 10 x 8 cm, ovate or broadly-ovate, apex acuminate, ± cordate at base, bright green above, slightly glaucous below; petioles to 4 cm. Cymes subequal to subtending leaves; peduncles to 5 cm. Corolla white, rarely pinkish or yellow, 8-12 mm diam., glabrous; corona segments triangular. Follicles to 8 cm, C. 6 mm broad, widest just above base. Fl. 4-9. Conglomerate scree, limestone cliffs, fields and river beds, beaches and waste places, s.I.-1100 m.
