Stems branched, ascending, 3-15 cm, pilose. Leaves 2-pinnate, crisply pilose. Rays, bracts, and often the ovaries markedly white-pilose. Petals small. Fruit ellipsoid, strongly compressed, 6-8 x c. 4 mm. Primary ridges obvious with patent hairs in several rows; secondary ridges with spines in 2 series, those of the 2  outermost ridges broad, triangular, confluent at the base, forming a narrow wing around the mericarp. Fl. 3-6. Sand dunes and sandy fields by the sea.
