Bulb ovoid-oblong, 0.8-1.2 cm diam.; outer tunics blackish, finally splitting into fibres. Stem 15-25 cm, somewhat purple, bearing leaves in lower part. Leaves 1.5-2 mm broad, flattened or semi-cylindrical, fleshy, shorter than stem. Valves of spathe lanceolate-acute, shorter than or as long as umbel. Umbel fastigiate-hemispherical, 1.2-2.5 cm diam., lax. Pedicels slightly unequal, 0.8-1.5 cm. Perianth cylindrical-campanulate; segments pink or bright purplish-pink with purple midvein, 4-5 mm, spathulate, obtuse. Filaments exserted, 1.5 x perianth segments. Anthers yellow. Capsule depressed-globose, 3.54 mm, shorter than perianth. Fl. 7-8. Meadows, steppe, saline soils, amongst Juncus, 900-1200 m.
