Root 1-2,5 cm thick. Stem very short. Leaves petiolate, ovate to oblong-lanceolate, cuneate at base or gradually attenuate into a ± long petiole, obtuse to acuminate, somewhat wrinkled, sparsely hairy to glabrescent, often with prickles, 8-40 x 3-18 cm. Flowers axillary, many in centre of rosette, pedicels 2-8 cm. Calyx 1-2 cm, lobes triangular, acute. Corolla pale bluish violet, 2-3 cm, tube short, lobes oblong-triangular. Berry yellow to orange, 2-3 cm diam., fruiting calyx to 3 cm. Fl. 1-4. Rocky slopes, ruins, under Pinus brutia, olive trees, edges of fields, s.l.-600 m.
